Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Nugent pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Adding Kendall Fuller by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In No. 2 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
A tidy little value on Brian Thomas Jr. in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick40 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Good price on Chop Robinson in Round 2, Pick 8, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at pick 75, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Value with a capital V on Blake Fisher in the 110th pick, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick122 Rnd4 Drake Nugent
They reached a country mile for Drake Nugent at the 122nd overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick146 Rnd5 Austin Booker
They paid up for Austin Booker at slot 146 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
