Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB+
The Bears kept it disciplined and banked a B-. There is reaching, and then there is Abdul Carter at the 73rd overall pick. The Bears jumped the board by 44 and dared it to prove them wrong. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In No. 15 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick37
Rnd2
Deone Walker
They took Deone Walker at par in pick 37, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick73
Rnd3
Abdul Carter
They talked themselves into Abdul Carter at Round 3, Pick 9, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick77
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
The board had Donovan Jackson higher than the 77th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
