FutureA
Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a A- for the Bears. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Justin Eboigbe at slot 75 is 73 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams in pick 1 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick31
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In No. 31 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick63
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
Nice patience on T.J. Tampa, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75
Rnd3
Justin Eboigbe
A wild overpay on Justin Eboigbe in the 75th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
A tidy little value on Blake Fisher in pick No. 122, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
