Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB-
The Bears let Dixon fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Call it larceny. Johnny Dixon sat on the board until the 146th pick, and the Bears did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Murphy reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 1 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick22
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In No. 22 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick50
Rnd2
Kalen King
Kalen King at Round 2, Pick 18 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick54
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 54th pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
They paid a round early for Gabriel Murphy in the Round 3 slot, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick110
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith slid further than he should have, and pick No. 110 is lovely value for the safety. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
No edge and no loss on Tommy Eichenberg in slot 122; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell at the 137th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick146
Rnd5
Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick172
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
A tidy bit of business in pick 172, where Joe Milton III graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
