Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: A-.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

The McGlothern pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Wilson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In the end it comes back to Caleb Williams, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In slot 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick 9 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
They took Brian Thomas Jr. at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick37 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
A straight-up fair deal on Chop Robinson at Round 2, Pick 5, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick51 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 51st pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 75 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick103 Rnd4 Audric Estime
Audric Estime at the 103rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick105 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
They robbed the room for Roman Wilson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at the 110th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick127 Rnd4 Javon Foster
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in the 127th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick146 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at No. 146 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick186 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
They let Joe Milton III come to them and pounced at slot 186. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at pick 232 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
