FutureA+
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a A- to match. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. However the rest shakes out, Sanders at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
In the end it comes back to Drake Maye, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick 8 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick No. 9 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick43
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson in No. 43 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74
Rnd3
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 74th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick75
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard slid further than he should have, and the 75th pick is lovely value for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick110
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick125
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in Round 4, Pick 25, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146
Rnd5
Sincere Haynesworth
They took Sincere Haynesworth at par in slot 146, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick186
Rnd6
AJ Barner
AJ Barner at Round 6, Pick 11 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick232
Rnd7
Tatum Bethune
They will replay Tatum Bethune at No. 232 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
