Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Winston Jr.: B+.

When a board-topper like Kevin Winston Jr. slides to Round 5, Pick 10, you do not overthink it, and the Bears did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

The cost of the Mauigoa reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In the 14th pick they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
They barely believed it either: Nick Emmanwori still on the board at Round 2, Pick 7. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
By-the-book stuff, Jihaad Campbell at slot 41 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson at No. 49 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick72 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor in pick 72 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick98 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in the 98th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick119 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at pick No. 119 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick148 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
You do not let a safety like Kevin Winston Jr. reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick224 Rnd7 Chimere Dike
Steal is underselling it; Chimere Dike at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick233 Rnd7 Addison West
Addison West in the 233rd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick240 Rnd7 Francisco Mauigoa
They reached a country mile for Francisco Mauigoa at pick No. 240, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
