Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A
ValueA NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: A.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Little to argue with here, and the A says so.

Morgan falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on TE-EDGE is the choice that costs them. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Caleb Williams and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 9 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick18 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 18th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kool-Aid McKinstry
Circle this one: Kool-Aid McKinstry at pick 49 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan in Round 3, Pick 11 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick80 Rnd3 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in pick No. 80 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter is a better player than No. 110 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cade Stover
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE and leaves edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
A tidy bit of business in the 146th pick, where Cedric Gray graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
