FutureA
The Bears found their guy under center in Daniels: A-. Start where it matters. The Bears took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Zinter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Braswell reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In slot 27 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
A premium they did not need to pay, Chris Braswell a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick66
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
A clean, defensible pick in pick 66 with a little surplus value in Kingsley Suamataia. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at No. 67 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
They paid sticker price for Marshawn Kneeland in pick No. 75, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick90
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104
Rnd4
Cam Hart
They did well to land Cam Hart in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
A slide stopped in pick 122, with Zak Zinter worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
