Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: A-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

That King pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Reaching for Barner left real value on the table behind him.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
They did well to land Chris Braswell in slot 50, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Austin Booker
Austin Booker at the 75th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick85 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
No edge and no loss on Calen Bullock in No. 85; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick120 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer in the 120th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
A reach on Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 122; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick156 Rnd5 AJ Barner
A conviction pick on AJ Barner at Round 5, Pick 20 that the board grades a round light. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick161 Rnd5 Kalen King
Taking Kalen King in pick 161 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick210 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire in the 210th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick243 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
They jumped the gun on Jalen Coker, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
