Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Bears answered their biggest question with Nix. Grade: A-.

The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

They are betting Solomon proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They will answer for taking OLB-EDGE early while edge rusher, running back and other spots went begging.

Bottom line, with Bo Nix leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In No. 4 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick10 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
They took Rome Odunze at par in the 10th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick27 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In pick No. 27 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick66 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sedrick Van Pran. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick71 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
No drama and no debate, Patrick Paul went about where he belonged in the 71st overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick72 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
The board had cheaper options than Michael Hall Jr. at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Javon Solomon
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 75 on Javon Solomon with edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick122 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
A clean, defensible pick in pick 122 with a little surplus value in Blake Fisher. It fills a real need, too.
Pick256 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
Jalen Coker in pick No. 256 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
