Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D.

The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Still.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 1 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick13 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 13th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 JC Latham
A clean, defensible pick in the 24th pick with a little surplus value in JC Latham. The roster fit checks out.
Pick44 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
A tidy bit of business in slot 44, where Kamren Kinchens graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick75 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Wilson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jacob Cowing
They let Jacob Cowing come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 11. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick123 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
Good price on Tyrice Knight in pick 123, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick143 Rnd5 Will Shipley
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Will Shipley at pick No. 143 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick221 Rnd7 Tarheeb Still
Steal is underselling it; Tarheeb Still at pick 221 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick231 Rnd7 Jalen Green
Jalen Green at pick No. 231 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
