FutureA+
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. They will need Milton III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Olumuyiwa Fashanu and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 9 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick21
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the 21st pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Kalen King
A quiet steal in slot 53: Kalen King for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
A straight-up fair deal on Brenden Rice at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
Blake Corum
They paid sticker price for Blake Corum in pick 75, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick110
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
They did well to land Dominick Puni in Round 4, Pick 10, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Javon Foster
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in the 122nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick146
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Milton III in No. 146, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
A tidy little value on Jaylan Ford in the 182nd pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
