Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Maye: B.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

They will need Powers-Johnson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Carson.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In the 4th pick they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the 9th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick No. 27 they get a cornerstone up front, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick35 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Tyler Nubin. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick66 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
No drama and no debate, Mekhi Wingo went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 2. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Caelen Carson in pick 75. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick110 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III in slot 110 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at No. 122 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick146 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
A straight-up fair deal on Javion Cohen at pick No. 146, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
