Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Laumea has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick75
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in pick No. 75, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick110
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
They liked Sataoa Laumea enough to skip the value, taking him in the 110th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick127
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick146
Rnd5
Keith Randolph Jr.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keith Randolph Jr.. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick232
Rnd7
Matthew Jones
No drama and no debate, Matthew Jones went about where he belonged in No. 232. A need, and now a little less of one.
