The real work happened on the phones. The Bears fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

The DeJean pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with cornerback still on the board. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Whittington at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Dallas Turner and all.
