Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: B+. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Getting Thrash where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The Williams pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In No. 1 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick10
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 10th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick72
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
A reach for Gabriel Murphy in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 11 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
Circle this one: Jamari Thrash at pick 110 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick111
Rnd4
James Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for James Williams. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick122
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
No edge and no loss on Justin Eboigbe in pick No. 122; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
