Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a A- for the Bears.

The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Reaching for Van Pran left real value on the table behind him. The Abrams-Draine value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
In slot 9 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A premium they did not need to pay, Xavier Legette a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick37 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
They went early on Tyler Guyton in the 37th pick, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in No. 75 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
They took Jaden Hicks at par in pick 127, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick132 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine slipping to pick No. 132 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134 Rnd4 Javion Cohen
A straight-up fair deal on Javion Cohen at the 134th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
