Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesD+ FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bears: B.

Nobody else had Richard Jibunor anywhere near the 228th pick. The Bears did, by 92 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The Jackson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
In pick 14 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick23 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
By-the-book stuff, Dallas Turner at pick No. 23 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick46 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at slot 46 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick47 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
A reach on Byron Murphy II in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65 Rnd3 Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer in the 65th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick71 Rnd3 Chris Braswell
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 7 with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in slot 78 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104 Rnd4 James Williams
They liked James Williams enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick115 Rnd4 Ricky Pearsall
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ricky Pearsall. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick132 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
They paid a round early for Darius Robinson in the 132nd overall pick, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick138 Rnd5 Khyree Jackson
The board fumbled Khyree Jackson all the way to pick No. 138, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick144 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at the 144th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick182 Rnd6 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at pick 182 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick228 Rnd7 Richard Jibunor
Richard Jibunor in No. 228 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
