Nobody dealt better than the Bears this weekend: B+. The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Suamataia pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
They will need Powers-Johnson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the 24th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid up for Jackson Powers-Johnson at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick56
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in No. 56. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 75 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick110
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at the 110th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick125
Rnd4
Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker in slot 125 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick146
Rnd5
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil slipping to pick 146 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
