Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesD FutureA+
Nix is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Bo Nix, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The cost of the Robinson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick No. 1 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick25 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In slot 25 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in pick 75 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick88 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at No. 88 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick110 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
They paid up for Darius Robinson at the 110th pick when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122 Rnd4 Malik Washington
A tidy little value on Malik Washington in the 122nd overall pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Jaheim Bell. A minor itch, scratched.
