Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Cody Simon at pick 234 is 32 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The Myles Garrett deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
In the 13th pick they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Devontez Walker
They took Devontez Walker at par in No. 44, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick55 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 55. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
No edge and no loss on Johnny Wilson in Round 3, Pick 11; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick86 Rnd3 Audric Estime
They liked Audric Estime enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 86. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Beau Brade
No drama and no debate, Beau Brade went about where he belonged in the 110th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick122 Rnd4 Isaiah Adams
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Adams at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson in No. 146 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Cody Simon
Cody Simon in the 234th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
