Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: B. The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Newton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick 9 they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Bralen Trice
Fair-plus on Bralen Trice, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111
Rnd4
Ray Davis
Ray Davis at the 111th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick123
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
A tidy little value on Sataoa Laumea in pick No. 123, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick143
Rnd5
Josh Newton
Josh Newton at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
