Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a D-.

The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Joe Milton III, taking him 56 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Coleman.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 9 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
They went early on Xavier Worthy in Round 2, Pick 11, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick74 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
They took Kamren Kinchens at par in No. 74, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman in slot 75 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick111 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zak Zinter in the 111th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick123 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at No. 123 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick143 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
A big swing on Joe Milton III at slot 143, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
