Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
The Bears found their guy under center in Williams: D-.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Smith reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 9 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zach Frazier well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick74 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
They did well to land Brenden Rice in pick No. 74, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
They reached a country mile for Tykee Smith at the 75th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick111 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at slot 111 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick142 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
By-the-book stuff, Ben Sinnott at pick 142 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick143 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
Nothing to complain about; Cedric Gray went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
