Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
D+
ValueC
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureC+
The Bears got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D+. The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Banks reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hill Jr..
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Caleb Banks
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
The board had Anthony Hill Jr. higher than the 48th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick89
Rnd3
Caden Curry
Caden Curry in the 89th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick129
Rnd4
Max Iheanachor
A conviction pick on Max Iheanachor at pick 129 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick163
Rnd5
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at Round 5, Pick 25 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick239
Rnd7
Micah Morris
They took Micah Morris at par in slot 239, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick241
Rnd7
Ricardo Hallman
Nothing to complain about; Ricardo Hallman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
