The phones sank the Bears this weekend: D-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jordan Travis at the Round 3 slot, a reach of 43 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Fautanu falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick10
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the 10th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick32
Rnd1
T'Vondre Sweat
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick74
Rnd3
Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at slot 74 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis in the 95th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
