Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA
The Bears bet the future on Maye. The board says D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Wilson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick 3 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In slot 9 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
No edge and no loss on Tyler Nubin in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick44 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Jenkins at Round 2, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Somehow Roman Wilson was still sitting there in pick No. 75, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
No drama and no debate, Kris Abrams-Draine went about where he belonged in the 77th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick104 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at the 104th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick111 Rnd4 Mekhi Wingo
By-the-book stuff, Mekhi Wingo at No. 111 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick123 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in pick No. 123 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick143 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
They let Ainias Smith come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 7. It fills a real need, too.
Pick210 Rnd6 Elijah Jones
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Elijah Jones at the 210th pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
