It is a puzzling start. The Bears had interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots to solve and reached instead for Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE, at No. 75.

The cost of the McCaffrey reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
