Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueA- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Anthony Gould tumbling to the Jets in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Reaching for Hardy left real value on the table behind him. With edge rusher, safety and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick No. 10 they get a passer to set the clock by, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick72 Rnd3 Edgerrin Cooper
Taking Edgerrin Cooper in the 72nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick111 Rnd4 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at slot 111 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A want over a need in pick No. 135: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. adds a linebacker while edge rusher, safety and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick185 Rnd6 Elijah Jones
Steal is underselling it; Elijah Jones at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256 Rnd7 Anthony Gould
The board fumbled Anthony Gould all the way to No. 256, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick257 Rnd7 Daequan Hardy
Value said wait; Daequan Hardy in the 257th pick says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
