Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueA NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
Larceny in the 249th pick lands the 49ers a B+, Sanders and all.

Thirty-one other rooms let Raheim Sanders slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at pick 249. Highway robbery.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In No. 11 they get a double-digit-sack hope. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in pick 44 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at Round 3, Pick 11 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jahdae Barron
Taking Jahdae Barron in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick112 Rnd4 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in the 112th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jihaad Campbell
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to pick No. 137, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick142 Rnd5 Trey Amos
Trey Amos at slot 142 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick171 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in the 171st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick186 Rnd6 Mason Taylor
Steal is underselling it; Mason Taylor at the 186th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick249 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick254 Rnd7 Shemar Turner
Somehow Shemar Turner was still sitting there in No. 254, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
