Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Jaguars, and a B- to prove it. The Jaguars clearly saw something nobody else did in Jake Golday, taking him 25 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The Wheatley value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 3 of 9 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Jake Golday
Jake Golday at the 56th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick81
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
Nothing to complain about; Domonique Orange went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in No. 88 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jack Endries
By-the-book stuff, Jack Endries at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
