Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B-.

Nobody else had Marcus Yarns anywhere near Round 6, Pick 1. The Bills did, by 87 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Strong pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots still on the board.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 30th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
The board had cheaper options than Maxwell Hairston at slot 56, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick62 Rnd2 Kevin Winston Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kevin Winston Jr. this early at the 62nd pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Cody Simon
Cody Simon at the Round 4 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick132 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 30 on Dorian Strong with offensive lineman, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick169 Rnd5 Que Robinson
Que Robinson at No. 169 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick170 Rnd5 Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty at pick No. 170 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick173 Rnd5 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 173rd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177 Rnd6 Marcus Yarns
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Marcus Yarns well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick206 Rnd6 Zeek Biggers
Zeek Biggers in Round 6, Pick 30 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
