Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Bills. The rest of the league had time to spare on Francisco Mauigoa; the Bills did not wait, grabbing him 70 spots ahead at the 211th pick.
The Martinez pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In slot 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
Deone Walker
A straight-up fair deal on Deone Walker at pick 61, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch in Round 3, Pick 6 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Anthony Belton in pick No. 131. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick171
Rnd5
Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez slipping to No. 171 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick179
Rnd6
Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson in No. 179 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick198
Rnd6
Upton Stout
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Upton Stout at the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick206
Rnd6
Zeek Biggers
They talked themselves into Zeek Biggers at pick 206, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211
Rnd6
Francisco Mauigoa
They left a pile of value on the table to take Francisco Mauigoa this early at the 211th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick255
Rnd7
Da'Quan Felton
A big swing on Da'Quan Felton at Round 7, Pick 37, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
