If confidence were a draft strategy, the Saints would have aced it. J.J. Weaver at the 247th overall pick is 148 spots clear of where he belonged. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.

The Spears-Jennings pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
