Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Jets.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Jets reached some 47 spots for Jackson Hawes, and value like that does not grow back. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In the 7th pick they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick42 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart at slot 42 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick73 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
They took Mason Taylor at par in pick 73, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick110 Rnd4 Nick Nash
They reached a country mile for Nick Nash at No. 110, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick145 Rnd5 CJ West
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for CJ West. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick162 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
A reach for Ajani Cornelius in Round 5, Pick 24; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
A reach on Jay Higgins in slot 186; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jackson Hawes
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jackson Hawes well ahead of where he belonged. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
