FutureB-
The Buccaneers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Buccaneers started one anyway for Richard Jibunor, 78 picks ahead of schedule. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Worthy value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kool-Aid McKinstry. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick57
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Worthy at the 57th overall pick is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick92
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at pick No. 92 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick108
Rnd4
Myles Cole
Myles Cole at No. 108 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick125
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
A big swing on Tommy Eichenberg at the 125th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick220
Rnd6
Jaden Shirden
Jaden Shirden at Round 6, Pick 45 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick230
Rnd7
Trente Jones
They reached into another round for Trente Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232
Rnd7
Trey Knox
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Knox. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick246
Rnd7
Richard Jibunor
Richard Jibunor in the 246th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
