Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Ravens a B-. The Ravens' one glaring miss is interior defensive lineman, a need they left exactly as they found it.
Knight at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will need Legette to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In slot 30 they get a cornerstone up front, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
They paid up for Xavier Legette at No. 62 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss at pick 93 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick131
Rnd4
Josh Newton
They did well to land Josh Newton in pick No. 131, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134
Rnd4
Kalen King
A straight-up fair deal on Kalen King at Round 4, Pick 34, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jalyx Hunt
Jalyx Hunt in the 164th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick226
Rnd7
Tyrice Knight
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyrice Knight at the 226th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick248
Rnd7
LaDarius Henderson
By-the-book stuff, LaDarius Henderson at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
