Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA-
Grand theft in pick No. 165: the Bengals steal Mullings and grade out a A-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kalel Mullings, the No. 115 name on the board, stolen at the 165th overall pick.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. Conner has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In slot 31 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in the 55th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
A slide stopped in pick 72, with Ashton Gillotte worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick81 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick118 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at No. 118 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick154 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
The board fumbled Riley Leonard all the way to pick No. 154, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick165 Rnd5 Kalel Mullings
A running back of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 26 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick195 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
They talked themselves into Hayden Conner at the 195th pick, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick202 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in the Round 6 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick215 Rnd6 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in the 215th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
