Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Stutsman should have been long gone. The Bills pounced, and earned a B. Call it larceny. Danny Stutsman sat on the board until the Round 4 slot, and the Bills did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
They read the board right and Walter Nolen was the payoff at the 30th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick56
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
Fair-plus on JT Tuimoloau, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jalen Royals
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Royals. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick108
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
They robbed the room for Danny Stutsman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick131
Rnd4
Tory Horton
Tory Horton at No. 131 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick175
Rnd5
Ollie Gordon II
The board had Ollie Gordon II higher than the 175th overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick179
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
No edge and no loss on Jaylen Reed in pick 179; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick206
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse at pick 206 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208
Rnd6
Kyle Williams
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 208, where Kyle Williams graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
