W DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Steelers: B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Steelers spent pick 195 on Jordan Whittington, a name most had 53 spots down the list.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. It is not that McCormick is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In pick 20 they get a lockdown presence outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Roman Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 51 with a little surplus value in Roman Wilson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick84
Rnd3
Max Melton
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Max Melton worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick98
Rnd3
Blake Fisher
A big swing on Blake Fisher at the 98th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick119
Rnd4
Mason McCormick
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Mason McCormick while clear needs at quarterback, safety and other spots sat open.
Pick178
Rnd6
Logan Lee
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Logan Lee. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jordan Whittington
They reached into another round for Jordan Whittington, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
