Draft Grade — Bengals

The Bengals cashed the board's mistake on Taylor: B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Mason Taylor, the No. 102 name on the board, stolen at the Round 5 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with tight end the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Mike Green
In the 17th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
They read the board right and Jihaad Campbell was the payoff at No. 49. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick81
Rnd3
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick117
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams in slot 117 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick152
Rnd5
Mason Taylor
A tight end of that caliber at pick 152 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick191
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ollie Gordon II in the 191st pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
