Draft Grade — Jets

FutureB-
Grand theft in Round 7, Pick 26: the Jets steal Fuller and grade out a B. The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback and running back still glaring, the Jets used the 89th overall pick on Deontae Lawson, a linebacker they were not exactly short of. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Fuller to cover a lot of smaller sins. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Rueben Bain Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick16
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In No. 16 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
CJ Allen
No edge and no loss on CJ Allen in pick 33; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick59
Rnd2
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A quiet steal in slot 59: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick89
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Deontae Lawson at linebacker with quarterback and running back open.
Pick103
Rnd4
Logan Jones
The board had Logan Jones higher than Round 4, Pick 3, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick106
Rnd4
Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers slipping to the 106th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick140
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
Fair-plus on Chris McClellan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick179
Rnd5
Febechi Nwaiwu
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 179, where Febechi Nwaiwu graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
They read the board right and Zavion Thomas was the payoff at slot 228. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick242
Rnd7
Andre Fuller
Andre Fuller at No. 242 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
