Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-

The Ravens kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Ravens took Phillip Webb a full 127 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

They banked enough surplus on Mondon Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Shavon Revel Jr.
In pick 24 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Jared Ivey
A wild overpay on Jared Ivey in slot 55, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick125 Rnd4 Willie Lampkin
They left a pile of value on the table to take Willie Lampkin this early at No. 125. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick135 Rnd4 JJ Pegues
They reached into another round for JJ Pegues, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick174 Rnd5 Phillip Webb
Phillip Webb at the 174th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jake Majors
They will replay Jake Majors at pick 175 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick180 Rnd6 Brashard Smith
A running back of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick197 Rnd6 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick No. 197 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jamaree Caldwell
Value said wait; Jamaree Caldwell in the 211th pick says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick240 Rnd7 Trey Wedig
A real head-scratcher, Trey Wedig in No. 240 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
