Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Maye: D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Reaching for Foster left real value on the table behind him. Drake Maye gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Clark falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick5 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In pick No. 5 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
A tidy little value on Kamren Kinchens in slot 34, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick43 Rnd2 Sedrick Van Pran
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sedrick Van Pran this early at the 43rd overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick57 Rnd2 Princely Umanmielen
They liked Princely Umanmielen enough to skip the value, taking him in the 57th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick69 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
Good price on Mekhi Wingo in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 75 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick105 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in No. 105 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jack Nelson
They went early on Jack Nelson in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick142 Rnd5 Javon Foster
Javon Foster in slot 142 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick183 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
They robbed the room for De'Corian Clark here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick226 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
This one needs a full-page explanation: Sheridan Jones in Round 7, Pick 6, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
