Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureA+
Larceny in slot 242 lands the Bears a B+, Lachey and all. You build a draft on nights like this. Luke Lachey had no business being available in pick 242, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
The Membou reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in the 39th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick41
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malaki Starks at the 41st pick is the proof. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick72
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson slipping to No. 72 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick86
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Nice patience on Mason Taylor, who had no business lasting to pick 86. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick115
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at pick No. 115 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick166
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant in slot 166 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235
Rnd7
Hunter Wohler
A conviction pick on Hunter Wohler at Round 7, Pick 17 that the board grades a round light. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick242
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Taking Luke Lachey in slot 242 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
