Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB-
The Chargers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chargers left interior defensive lineman untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Gentry has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In the 7th overall pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. A real need, handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
No edge and no loss on Kris Jenkins in the 37th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick38 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They went early on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 2 slot, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick69 Rnd3 Blake Corum
Blake Corum at pick 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick106 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Khyree Jackson at pick No. 106, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams at No. 139 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick184 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in slot 184 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick185 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
A reasonable price with a little left over, Roger Rosengarten in Round 6, Pick 10. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick223 Rnd7 Josh Wallace
They paid sticker price for Josh Wallace in Round 7, Pick 3, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick256 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry at the 256th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
