Draft Grade — Bills

FutureB-
The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Campbell: D. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bills did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
They banked enough surplus on Campbell to cover a lot of smaller sins. They are betting Uiagalelei proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a double-digit-sack hope at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
Nothing to complain about; T.J. Sanders went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick59
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
A premium they did not need to pay, Kenneth Grant a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick61
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to slot 61, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick72
Rnd3
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick173
Rnd5
Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in pick No. 173 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd6
Jihaad Campbell
You do not let a linebacker like Jihaad Campbell reach slot 177 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jared Wilson
They read the board right and Jared Wilson was the payoff at the 205th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick207
Rnd6
Kevin Winston Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick230
Rnd7
DJ Uiagalelei
A swing that ignored the value entirely, DJ Uiagalelei well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
