Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Bears walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Matayo Uiagalelei
No edge and no loss on Matayo Uiagalelei in pick No. 23; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick56
Rnd2
Taurean York
They paid sticker price for Taurean York in the 56th overall pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
