Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C+
ValueC- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Cowboys: C+.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Jonah Coleman at No. 12 is 30 spots clear of where he belonged. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, Lawrence at that price is a win they earned.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

So much rides on Jonah Coleman that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jonah Coleman
In the 12th overall pick they get a workhorse for the backfield, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick20 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In No. 20 they get a load in the middle at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick112 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
Good price on Zachariah Branch in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick150 Rnd5 Malachi Lawrence
Malachi Lawrence at the 150th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick177 Rnd5 Trey Moore
No drama and no debate, Trey Moore went about where he belonged in slot 177. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick215 Rnd6 Nolan Rucci
The board had Nolan Rucci higher than pick No. 215, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick221 Rnd7 Jacobe Johnson
The board had cheaper options than Jacobe Johnson at Round 7, Pick 5, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick225 Rnd7 Javien Toviano
They liked Javien Toviano enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 225. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
